Holi falls on Friday 10  The administration has decided to cover 10 mosques in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal with tarpaulins as the upcoming Holi festival and Friday prayers will be held on the same day. Both religious rituals will be celebrated on Friday (March 14). This information has been revealed in a report by Gulf News. Sambhal Superintendent of Police Shrish Chandra said that this step is to ensure that the festival is celebrated without hurting the religious sentiments of both the communities. The 10 mosques on the route of the Holi ‘Chaupai’ procession will be covered with tarpaulins during the procession.

He further said that such measures have been taken for the last few years. This has made it possible to avoid any kind of tension or unpleasant incidents between the two communities.

Holi falls on Friday 10  The timing of the Friday prayers and the ‘Chaupai’ procession has also been changed so that the two events do not take place at the same time. The Friday prayers will be held before or after the Holi procession. Also, outsiders will be prohibited from entering the mosque area.

The 10 mosques to be covered are Shahi Jama Masjid, Ladaniawali Masjid, Thanawali Masjid, Ek Rat Masjid, Gurudwara Road Masjid, Gol Masjid, Khajurwali Masjid, Anar Wali Masjid and Gol Dhanwali Masjid.

The local administration and police have been asked to maintain strict vigil and be vigilant to avoid any untoward incident. A peace rally was also held at Sambhal Police Station with religious leaders from both communities.
